Could Füllkrug be transferring to a fresh team, donning the DFB uniform?
In the soccer world, Niclas Füllkrug, the top scorer for Borussia Dortmund in 2022, is a valuable asset for the national team. Yet, his time at Dortmund might be coming to an end, as rumors suggest a shocking striker trade is on the horizon.
According to media outlets like Sky, a spectacular striker exchange could be in the works between VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund. Reports indicate that Stuttgart has expressed interest in the situation of Füllkrug, whose contract with Dortmund runs until 2026. The 31-year-old has netted 15 goals and set up 10 more in 43 games for Dortmund so far.
Should the deal go through, Füllkrug could potentially take over from Serhou Guirassy in Stuttgart. Guirassy, who has scored 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga games, is reportedly looking to transfer according to "Bild" and Sky.
Besides Champions League runners-up Dortmund, international clubs like AC Milan, Arsenal FC, and Chelsea are also said to be eyeing Füllkrug. His buyout clause is rumored to be set at €18 million. Interestingly, it's also reported that VfB captain Waldemar Anton is considering a move to Dortmund.
Füllkrug joined Dortmund last August. Before that, he spent four years with Werder Bremen. In the 2022/23 season, he topped the Bundesliga scoring chart with 16 goals.
