"The devil wears Prada" - Continuation in progress

"Freaky Friday" receives a sequel after twenty years, "Beetlejuice" returns after 35 years. Late sequels are in vogue in Hollywood now. According to the news portal "Puck," Walt Disney Pictures is reportedly working on a sequel to the fashion satire from 2006, "The Devil Wears Prada."

Aline Brosh McKenna (56), who wrote the script for the original, is said to pen the script for the sequel. No information is available yet about which actresses from the cult comedy will return. Meryl Streep (75) portrayed the title character Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion magazine "Runway." Anne Hathaway (41) played the lead role of Andy, Miranda's second assistant, despite having no knowledge of fashion. Emily Blunt (41) played Emily, Andy's rival at work.

The Story of "The Devil Wears Prada 2"

There's no information yet about the cast for "The Devil Wears Prada 2," but it's rumored to be about Miranda Priestly, who is struggling with the decline of the traditional magazine industry. She might be saved by none other than Emily, her former assistant whom she once scorned. Emily is now a powerful figure in a luxury conglomerate and could help Miranda with her advertising campaigns. There's no mention of Anne Hathaway's Andy, the clear protagonist of the first installment.

"The Devil Wears Prada" was based on the same-named novel by Lauren Weisberger (47) from 2003. Weisberger was an assistant to Anna Wintour (74), the influential and notorious editor-in-chief of US "Vogue." Meryl Streep was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Miranda, inspired by Wintour.

A musical adaptation of "The Devil Wears Prada" premieres in London in October. The music is being composed by none other than Elton John (77).

  2. Hollywood's current trend of late sequels extends to the potential return of notable actresses from the original "The Devil Wears Prada," such as Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
  3. In the expected continuation of "The Devil Wears Prada," Meryl Streep's character, Miranda Priestly, grapples with the challenges faced by the traditional magazine industry, potentially seeking help from her former assistant Emily, now a prominent figure in the luxury industry.
  4. The upcoming sequel, "The Devil Wears Prada 2," could see a fascinating reversal of roles, with Emily assisting Miranda, much like how The Devil Wears Prada's plot revolves around Anne Hathaway's character helping Meryl Streep's character.
  5. Inspired by the original novel written by Lauren Weisberger, "The Devil Wears Prada" gained additional popularity by mirroring the real-life experiences of Weisberger as an assistant to the influential Anna Wintour.
