Conflict between VfL Bochum and goalkeeper Riemann intensifies

The club stated that Riemann and the coaching staff had mutually agreed on this decision, which stems from irreconcilable differences involving team matters. In the meantime, VfL Bochum appear to have a viable replacement ready in the form of Andreas Luthe. The 37-year-old goalkeeper, who returned to his former club from 1. FC Kaiserslautern during the winter transfer window, is now fancied to don the gloves during the forthcoming fixtures against Fortuna. Having played for Bochum from 2001 to 2016, including in their prior relegation play-off against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Luthe has made one Bundesliga appearance this season - a 1:4 loss to Rasenballsport Leipzig.
