- Conclusion of the "Tat Scene" Summer Hiatus: These Inquiry Officers Bid Farewell

Time's up once more, fresh "Tatort" and "Polizeiruf 110" episodes are dropping on ARD. The first post-summer break Sunday crime drama is entitled "Your Mother", a Vienna rapper "Tatort" airing September 15, 8:15 PM.

Before the summer break, which commenced on May 20 (Whit Monday) following a Black Forest "Tatort" broadcast, 17 "Tatort" and 5 "Polizeiruf 110" dramas had already been aired on the first channel this year. Among these was the second case of the 2021-started Halle team Koitzsch and Lehmann (Peter Kurth and Peter Schneider).

A preview of what's left in first broadcasts until December's end - at present, there are 15 "Tatorts" and 2 "Polizeirufe" lined up. The order will only be finalized when scheduling happens around six weeks prior.

Vienna/ORF:

Sometimes it's three Austrian "Tatorts" per year, sometimes two - in 2024, there will be two. In the second case (September 15), a rising Vienna rapper turns up dead - numerous suspects abound. This Hip-Hop "Tatort" is dubbed "Your Mother" (originally titled "Whore's Child").

Black Forest/SWR:

In "Ad acta" (September 22), Tobler and Berg (Eva Löbau and Hans-Jochen Wagner) question why the stepfather and boss of a slain lawyer is reluctant to aid the investigation into his demise.

Frankfurt am Main/HR:

"It's so green when Frankfurt's hills bloom" names the last (and 19th) case of the team Janneke/Brix (Margarita Broich and Wolfram Koch) on September 29. Matthias Brandt stars as a psychologist, while HR promises a thrilling climax.

Wiesbaden/HR:

LKA investigator Felix Murot's 13th case (Ulrich Tukur) takes us back to the 1940s. It tackles a wanted war criminal. As one might guess, "Murot and the 1000-year-old Reich" (due October 20, according to HR) is not presented in a typical here-and-now fashion.

Franconia/BR:

The tenth case since 2015 concludes the character arc of Paula Ringelhahn. Actress Dagmar Manzel departs from the team. "In 'Nevertheless', the suicide of a 25-year-old inmate triggers a chain of lethal incidents in Nuremberg," summarizes BR the plot.

Ludwigshafen/SWR:

"Your Right" marks Ulrike Folkerts' 80th appearance as Lena Odenthal (in 35 years - for Lisa Bitter as Johanna Stern it's the tenth year). In this case, there's suspicion of a dismissed call center employee committing murder.

Stuttgart/SWR:

According to SWR, Lannert and Bootz's "Let Her Go" is set for release around November. The duo (Richy Müller and Felix Klare) tackle the death of a woman who left her hometown, family, and fiancé for urban life. Is it suicide?

Munich/BR:

Investigators Batic and Leitmayr (Miroslav Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl) take on a NATO exercise in their 96th case. With power comes responsibility, as the scenario entails countless soldiers, civilians, and heavy equipment.

Kiel/NDR:

In "Borowski and the Eternal Sea", Klaus Borowski and Mila Sahin (Almila Bagriacik) deal with a series of mysterious female suicides on Kiel's beach. It's the 42nd and next-to-last case for Axel Milberg. Two more follow in 2025.

A Key Departure in the Münster "Tatort"

Münster/WDR:

The beloved team is confronted by the lifeless body of a lawyer in the second case of the season, "Man dies only twice" (working title of the 46th Münster "Tatort" was once "The Curse of the Death Mask"), whom a mysterious artifact from an ancient warrior sculpture impales. Commissar Thiel (Axel Prahl) and Professor Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers) agree - this was not just a tragic accident.

It's the final case for Mechthild Großmann as State Prosecutor Wilhelmine Klemm. The actress with the unmistakable deep voice recently announced that she would be leaving after 2025's two films.

In "Silence," character named Falke (Wotan Wilke Möhring) enjoys a secluded retreat at a monastery. On his final night, which he celebrates with his roommate, a sudden fire occurs. The monastery's pastor, Otto, perishes. Was it an accident or foul play?

Zürich/SRF:

Switzerland's second crime series of the year, featuring Grandjean and Ott (Anna Pieri Zuercher and Carol Schuler), is anticipated to air in December. "Ferryman" is set during the pre-Christmas season. It revolves around a serial killer operating within the banking sector.

Bremen/Radio Bremen:

In "Silent Night," Moormann and Selb (Jasna Fritzi Bauer and Luise Wolfram) are on duty during the holidays. A captain is discovered deceased in his room with a gunshot wound. He and his partner had invited a Filipino sailor to stay with them. A botched robbery scenario?

Which "Tatort" teams will make a comeback in 2025

The Saarbrücken, Berlin, and Dresden "Tatort" teams will be absent from ARD's programming in 2024, returning only in 2025.

Inspector Charlotte Lindholm (Maria Furtwängler) of NDR, who was relocated from Hannover to Göttingen in 2019 due to teamwork issues, will also take some time off.

These "Polizeiruf" crime series remain planned for 2024

Already concluded for this year are the Rostock duo of NDR, Böwe and König (Lina Beckmann and Anneke Kim Sarnau). Similarly, the MDR's "Polizeiruf" teams, including Claudia Michelsen as Doreen Brasch in Magdeburg, are still scheduled.

Munich/BR:

Under the guidance of crime veteran Dominik Graf, the team of Cris Blohm (Johanna Wokalek) and Dennis Eden (Stephan Zinner) has created their third case. In "Beyond the Law," the murder of an amateur adult film star and intricate legal complications are at the heart of the story.

Brandenburg/RBB:

In the crime thriller "Waterways," a Polish student is found dead in a canoe floating on a canal. Detectives Vincent Ross (André Kaczmarczyk) and Karl Rogov (Frank Leo Schröder) investigate, following the old waterway the victim had been researching.

The 'Entertainment' provided by ARD continues with fresh episodes of 'Tatort' and 'Polizeiruf 110', including the highly anticipated 'Your Mother' with a Vienna rapper. Following the summer break, more 'Tatort' and 'Policeiruf' dramas are scheduled until December, offering various crime scenarios across different regions.
