Upcoming UEFA European Football Championship in 2024 - Concerns raised by Ceferin over European Championship safety: "Global situation unfavorable"

Just before the upcoming European Football Championship in Germany, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin expresses no specific security worries. Nevertheless, he identifies the globe's increasingly chaotic climate as an issue, stating in an interview with the German Press Agency, "The world's become more violent. More aggressive. The current global situation's not great."

Foregoing his responsibility for organizing a tournament as sprawling as the pan-European Championship 2021 brings a sense of relief to Ceferin. Reflecting on the past event that included eleven countries, he shares, "It was complicated, and looking back, I don't believe tournaments of this scale should happen again." Thankful to return to a traditional, single-country championship, Ceferin notes, "At least a European Championship held in one nation – Germany has numerous advantages."

Logistically speaking, Ceferin acknowledges that centralized planning offers a more straightforward approach. He adds, "It's certainly easier for the UEFA to focus on one location,"; however, collaboration with German authorities is a breeze.
