Simon Gosejohann, age 48, entered the comedy realm in 2002 with the show "Comedystreet." This was where he played tricks on unsuspecting passersby using a hidden camera. His efforts earned him the German Comedy Award. From 2002 to 2009, five seasons comprising a total of 39 episodes were aired on ProSeven. Investors then sponsored two more "Comedystreet XXL" seasons until 2013. Now, the platform Joyn is bringing the show back to life. This summer, 20 new episodes featuring Gosejohann and two undisclosed comedians will be produced.
Thomas Münzer, Joyn's programming head, referred to "Comedystreet" as "anarchic, slightly immature, with a sufficient dose of humiliation and precisely because of that, so funny and timeless," in a press statement. There hasn't been a format like this on their platform before, so according to Münzer, "the pairing of Simon Gosejohann with 'Comedystreet' [...] suits us like a glove."
