World Cup in Lillehammer - Combined victories for Riiber and Westvold Hansen
Norway, led by perennial winner Gyda Westvold Hansen and exceptional skier Jarl Magnus Riiber, continues to dominate the Nordic combined.
The 21-year-old Westvold Hansen secured her second victory in the second race of the season in Lillehammer and has now won 19 of the past 20 World Cup races. Her compatriots Ida Marie Hagen and Mari Leinan Lund finished second and third, just like the day before.
After a normal hill jump and the following run over five kilometers, Germany had four athletes in the top ten: Nathalie Armbruster (6th), Svenja Würth (8th), Jenny Nowak (9th) and Maria Gerboth (10th). In the men's event, Julian Schmid was the best German in fourth place. "We are getting closer from weekend to weekend. I'm very proud of the boys. They gave it their all once again, that's what we wanted to see," said coach Eric Frenzel on ZDF.
Victory once again went to Riiber, who was running lonely circles in the snow of Lillehammer. Jens Luuras Oftebro and Jörgen Graabak (both Norway) also made it onto the podium behind the man in yellow.
