Young Sherlock - Colin Firth with role in Guy-Ritchie-Series

British director Guy Ritchie (55) has worked on two Sherlock Holmes films in 2009 and 2011. He is now working on the Prime Video series "Young Sherlock" and appears to be able to direct a real heavyweight in the acting world. Colin Firth (63), who won an Oscar for "The King's Speech" in 2010, is joining the cast, according to US industry magazine "Variety".

Firth will reportedly play the character Sir Bucephalus Hodge, but there are currently no further details about the character. British actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin (26), who once played the 11-year-old Tom Riddle in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", will take on the lead role of young Sherlock. Also set to appear are "Shakespeare in Love" star Joseph Fiennes (54), the uncle of the main actor, Natascha McElhone (54) from the US series "Californication", and Chinese actress Zine Tseng (30) from the series "Three Body Problem".

From Murder to a Global Conspiracy

At the end of May, it was officially announced that Amazon had commissioned a series for its streaming service about the young detective, with "Snatch - Goes and Diamonds" director Ritchie responsible for directing. The British filmmaker will not only be directing but is also an executive producer. The production is based on the book series "Young Sherlock Holmes" by Andy Lane (61).

"In 'Young Sherlock', we will see a thrilling new version of the detective we all know, but in a way we couldn't have imagined before," Ritchie explained in May. "We will crack the enigmatic character, find out how he ticks, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love." The new interpretation confronts the 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes with a murder case at Oxford University that develops into a "global conspiracy".

Joseph Fiennes, known for his role in "Shakespeare in Love," will be joining the cast of the "Young Sherlock" series on Prime Video. Following in the footsteps of his niece Natascha McElhone, who starred in "Californication," Fiennes will add his talents to this highly anticipated project. Similarly, Colin Firth, the Oscar-winning actor from "The King's Speech," has been confirmed to portray Sir Bucephalus Hodge in the series, as reported by "Variety." With Guy Ritchie leading the production and directing, fans can expect an exciting new take on the beloved Sherlock Holmes character.
