Hugh Jackman takes on a new position. - Cinematic take on the German book "Glennkill"
Academy Award-nominated actor Hugh Jackman, known for his roles in "Deadpool" and "Wolverine," is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of German bestseller "Glennkill" by Leonie Swann. According to industry publication "Deadline," he will portray George Hardy, a sheep farmer who tells his flock crime stories every night but is unaware that they understand them. When Hardy dies mysteriously, the sheep take it upon themselves to investigate the murder. Additionally, Emma Thompson, a two-time Oscar winner, will also be appearing in this film, titled "Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie." Glennkill won the esteemed Friedrich-Glauser Prize in 2006, reaching the top of the bestseller list for a while. The project is being produced by streaming giant Amazon's MGM Studios. The cast also includes "Game of Thrones" actor Conleth Hill, who has also appeared in "Succession," and Hong Chau, nominated for an Oscar in "The Whale." Craig Mazin, creator of "Chernobyl" and "The Last of Us" series, is writing the screenplay. Veteran animation director Kyle Balda, having helmed "Minions" and "Despicable Me 3," is at the helm. The film is slated for a release in theaters on February 20, 2026.
