new album - Cigarettes After Sex sing about Love and Loss

Melancholic Song, Texts about Love and deep Emotions: The US-Band Cigarettes After Sex returns with their new album "X’s". The ten songs cover the entire bandwidth of their characteristic Dream-Pop-Sound - from the gentle drifting into a romantic past to the revelation of deep sorrow.

Cigarettes After Sex, consisting of Greg Gonzalez (Vocals and Guitar), Randall Miller (Bass), and Jacob Tomsky (Drums), has made a name for themselves in the music world with their sensual and dreamy style. In addition to millions of listeners and fans on streaming platforms, they perform their sensitive music in large stadiums before thousands of people. With the new album, they now address the hearts of their fans once again.

As with their other records, this one is reportedly influenced by the location of recording. Their first EP was recorded in the stairwell of a college in El Paso, their first album in a rehearsal room in Brooklyn, their second album "Cry" in a house on Mallorca - and now in the house in Los Angeles where Gonzalez lived with his former partner. The band recorded the album while Gonzalez was in deep mourning over the past relationship. This is evident in the music.

Missed opportunities and nostalgic glances back

Gonzalez sings about Sex, Romance, Love, Suffering, missed opportunities, and nostalgic glances back. In "Tejano Blue", for example, he sings: "I'll always make it seem like you were the last one" - the title and rhythm are a reference to Gonzalez's Texan roots, surrounded by Tejano music. In "Silver Sable", it remains melancholic: "Stay with me now, I don't want to feel lonely, I know how you feel, through the way you hold me". From the emotional wreckage of the end of the relationship, Gonzalez looks back nostalgically. "It's just the end of a romance and the attempt to see the beauty in it", he said about the Album.

"The recording feels brutal", Gonzalez says. "I could sit down and talk to someone about this loss, but it wouldn't scratch the surface." The songs of the new album remain classic in the style of the band, slow, reduced, and with powerful emotions in the voice.

The album "X's" by Cigarettes After Sex, which has a release date of 12th July, will be available for streaming in various parts of the world, including the United States of America. The music on the album, primarily focused on love and deep emotions, showcases the band's signature Dream-Pop sound. Despite the album being influenced by the band member's personal struggles, it was recorded in Los Angeles, where one of the members lived during a painful past relationship.
