Chess world champion humiliated by novice blunder revealed

The renowned Chinese chess champion, Ding Liren, stunned the chess world during a notable tournament held in Norway by making a naive slip-up in his match against the infamous Magnus Carlsen.

World chess champion Ding Liren astounded everyone on Sunday with an inexplicable faux pas against Magnus Carlsen, transforming it into a victory. Grandmasters, commentators, spectators, and specialists were rendered speechless.

As expressed by Norwegian grandmaster and commentator, Jon Ludvig Hammer, on TV2, "This is the greatest sensation in the chess world in years." He further emphasized, "They'll be discussing this until Ding loses his world title in November." TV2 expert, Maud Rødsmoen, described Ding's move as, "I'm experiencing goosebumps and totally stunned."

Brazilian grandmaster Rafael Leitao could barely grasp what had occurred, labelling Ding's move as "the worst move ever by a world champion." But what was the actual incident? Ding moved his rook from b6 to b2 in move 29. This inevitable blunder allowed Carlsen to checkmate him with just two subsequent moves. Undoubtedly, Carlsen seized this opportunity and took a pawn with his queen on h7, resulting in Ding's resignation.

Although unforeseen as this historical blunder from the world champion was, it aligns with the facade Ding Liren has been perpetuating for months. The 31-year-old presents himself as dismal in performance and appears mentally unstable. This aligns suitably with the apprehensiveness articulated by grandmaster Susan Polgar on Sunday: "I'm deeply concerned about Ding Liren. He's not the player he used to be, not even remotely close. [...] This is probably the worst deterioration of a reigning world champion ever."
