King Charles III, 75, is meticulously preparing for the approaching birthday parade, "Trooping the Colour," on the 15th of June. On Monday, the 10th of June, at Windsor Castle, the sovereign bestowed the Irish Guards with their new flags, referred to as "Colours," during a ceremony.

Charles, also carrying the title "Colonel of Chief," donned a uniform during the event as he examined and conversed with the guards and officers participating in the parade. Previously, the Irish Guards' Band entered the castle courtyard via the George IV Gate, escorted by their mascot, an Irish Wolfhound named Turlough Mor, also known as Seamus. The soldiers and the new flags will showcase themselves at the military parade on Saturday.

The Colours, decked out with the emblems and accolades of a regiment, hold a definite role at "Trooping the Colour," as they initially represented a key gathering point for troops on the battlefield.

Kate Missed Out on the Weekend Rehearsals

As "Regimental Colonel" of the Irish Guards, Princess Kate, 42, would typically be present at the "Trooping the Colour" recognition practice over the weekend, the 8th of June. Nonetheless, the palace disclosed in late May that Kate would not be attending the function due to her ongoing cancer treatment. She corresponded with the Irish Guards in a letter, expressing her regret for her absence. The note mentioned, "I aim to represent you all as soon as possible."

There is uncertainty if Kate will be seen with her family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the traditional highlight of the British event. Conversely, King Charles will partake in "Trooping the Colour," the birthday parade, alongside his wife Camilla, 76, in a carriage.
