At meetings with Olaf Scholz - Charles comments on England's EM loss
On Thursday (18. July), King Charles III. (75) met with nearly 50 European state and government heads at the fourth summit of the European Political Community (EPG) at Blenheim Palace. In a group, he chatted with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (66), Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (54), and British Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner (44). According to the "British Daily Mail," Rayner reportedly brought up the recent European Football Championship in Germany with him.
Charles on Southgate: "Outstanding job"
Charles reportedly described England's loss in the European Championship final against Spain as "devastating." For the now-retired England manager, Gareth Southgate (53), the 75-year-old showed sympathy. "The manager makes me feel sorry, but he really did an outstanding job."
Charles appeared in good spirits at the royal reception, laughing with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis (56) or exchanging words with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (46) and French President Emmanuel Macron (46). Zelenskyy was granted the honor of speaking with Charles in a private audience following the meeting.

The ailing Charles has had a busy week. At the beginning of the week, he and Queen Consort Camilla (77) spent two days on the British Channel Islands. On the afternoon of Wednesday, 17. July, he opened Parliament in London in a traditional ceremony. Accompanied by Queen Camilla, he attended this engagement on her 77th birthday.
