- Channing Tatum is hoping for a Gambit movie.

Will Channing Tatum (44) ever get his own "Gambit" movie? The Hollywood star and fiancé of Zoe Kravitz (35) has long wished for a solo film as the card-throwing mutant. In the recently released "Deadpool & Wolverine," Tatum finally got to portray the character on the big screen. At a Hollywood event hosted by industry magazine "Variety," Tatum was asked if he wanted his own "Gambit" film, to which he replied, "I certainly hope so."

Channing Tatum worked for five years on his dream project

Tatum plays the mutant in some scenes of the latest Marvel film "Deadpool & Wolverine." But he had been wanting a cinema appearance centered around the character for years. In 2014, Tatum signed on for the project, but directors like Doug Liman (59) or "Pirates of the Caribbean" mastermind Gore Verbinski (60) came and went, and when Disney eventually bought 21st Century Fox in 2019, the project was officially dead.

Now, Tatum has told Marvel and Disney executives, who now hold the rights to the character, that he wants a solo film again. "Of course, I said it. I've been saying it for 10 years," Tatum explained, adding, "It's in the hands of Bob Iger and Kevin Feige. I'm praying."

Tatum's comments were made on the sidelines of the premiere of his new film "Blink Twice," which his partner Kravitz directed. In the film, he plays a tech billionaire who flies to a private island with friends and a group of beautiful women. But the events take a shocking turn after the group has consumed drugs and alcohol for hours. The thriller will be released in German cinemas on August 22.

Tatum's portrayal of Gambit in "Deadpool & Wolverine" reignited his desire for a solo film, as he mentioned to Variety, saying, "I certainly hope so." Despite previous setbacks, with directors like Doug Liman and Gore Verbinski departing the project and Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Tatum hasn't given up, continually expressing his wish to Marvel and Disney executives.

Now, with both Disney and Marvel holding the rights to Gambit, Tatum continues to pray for his dream project to come to fruition, as he stated at the premiere of his partner Kravitz's film "Blink Twice."
