CHIO in Aachen - Change of horses for Werth's fight for an Olympic start
For the fight for an Olympic ticket, Isabell Werth has to change her horse. At the CHIO in Aachen, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist in the German team is not, as originally planned, riding Quantaz, but Wendy.
"The Nations Cup in Aachen is a selection for the Olympic Games in Paris. We would like to see Wendy again in a direct comparison with the other Nations Cup horses on a Five-Star level over three tests," said national trainer Monica Theodorescu about the horse exchange.
Three weeks ago at the German championship in Balve, Werth delivered disappointing performances with Quantaz and finished fifth in both title-deciding competitions. She had to forego a start with Wendy due to a bruise. At the comeback of the horse, Werth finished second twice at the weekend in Rotterdam.
Riding for the German team in Aachen besides Werth are Katharina Hemmer (Erwitte) with Denoix, Ingrid Klimke (Münster) with Franziskus, and Frederic Wandres (Hagen a.T.W.) with Bluetooth. Already secure is the Paris ticket for double Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndt (Tuntenhausen) with Dalera.
- Isabell Werth will display her skills in dressage with Wendy at the CHIO Aachen, a crucial event for securing an Olympic ticket to the Paris Olympic Games.
- Germany's Monica Theodorescu believes that the CHIO Aachen, part of the CHIO series, is an excellent opportunity for Wendy to be compared directly with other top-tier Nations Cup horses in dressage.
- Despite disappointing performances with Quantaz during the German championship in Balve, which resulted in a fifth-place finish in both title-deciding competitions, Werth will showcase her value as an equestrian athlete on Wendy at the Aachen event.
- With the Olympic Games in Paris quickly approaching, Germany's elite equestrian sport athletes, like Isabell Werth and fellow team members Katharina Hemmer, Ingrid Klimke, and Frederic Wandres, are making their presence felt at the prestigious CHIO Aachen tournament in Aachen, Germany.
- In addition to Werth, double Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndt with Dalera has already guaranteed their ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris, adding another significant value to Germany's strong equestrian sport contingent.
