Carvajal's cries are causing tremors at Real Madrid
Real Madrid endured a setback in their spectacular 2:0 win against Villarreal. Star defender Dani Carvajal suffered a severe knee injury, tearing his ACL in the process. The Spanish football veteran will be sidelined for several months, as confirmed by the club's official Instagram post.
Carvajal, expressing his disappointment on the social media platform, wrote, "Confirmed ACL injury, surgery required, and several months on the sidelines. I can't wait to start my rehab and return stronger than ever." His distress was palpable at the time of his substitution, with him vocalizing his pain before being wheeled off the field on a stretcher.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti had initially expressed concerns, fearing a serious injury. "Our players are down and worried, given that such accidents often occur due to the packed schedule, and unfortunately, it happened to a player who is incredibly important to us," stated the Italian manager.
During the clash, the versatile defender Carvajal, who has been a cornerstone of Real's defence, sustained the injury in the additional time while attempting to clear the ball in the face of opposition pressure from Yeremi Pino. The incident was unfortunate, with Fede Valverde, who scored the opening goal against his former teammate Toni Kroos, remarking, "At the end of the day, Dani's health is our top priority. The result is secondary."
After the upcoming international break, Real Madrid faces a series of crucial matches. First, they travel to Celta Vigo (19th October), followed by their Champions League rematch against Borussia Dortmund (22nd October), and the much-anticipated Primera División clash against rivals FC Barcelona (26th October).
Given Carvajal's injury, Real Madrid's defense might face challenges in the upcoming Spanish league matches. Despite Carvajal's absence, Real Madrid remains determined to perform well in the Spanish league, starting with their upcoming match against Celta Vigo.
