Her latest film project will be "a plea for more dialog": director Caroline Link.

Renowned director Caroline Link, winner of the Academy Award, expresses her deep-seated fear regarding the demise of nature and the global environment. Turning 60 on June 2, she communicated her concern to GPA (German Press Agency) in Munich.

"I'm deeply worried about the potential collapse of our nature," noted the esteemed French film-maker, who has gathered numerous accolades to her name. "If the ecosystem unwinds, everything else becomes inconsequential." Her most ardent desire is to curb wastefulness.

Her anticipation aligns with her latest cinematic project, "The Years with You," a love tale wherein a climate crusader and a law student sheltered in their respective realms unite. The movie is intended to be a plea for more discourse, according to Link. Regrettably, a theatrical release isn't expected until no later than 2025.

Renowned within the realm of German cinema, Link started her filmmaking journey with "Beyond Silence," a grand success in 1996 and nominated for an Oscar as the best foreign-language film in 1998. Yet, the prestigious prize eluded her until 2003, honoring her rendition of Stefanie Zweig's autobiographical novel, "No Place in Africa."

Through her films, Link creates multifaceted characters whose fates she narrates with a tender touch, deft suspense, and a sharp ear for minutiae. These stories commonly personify youth, such as "The Young One Must Breathe Fresh Air," focusing on the early years of Hape Kerkeling, or "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit," in which a young Jewish girl navigates flight and exile during the Nazi era.
