Debbie Hewitt, President of the English Football Association (FA), has made new allegations against Spain's former FA boss Luis Rubiales. In a report published by the FA in support of the FIFA ruling against Rubiales, Hewitt also accuses the 46-year-old of inappropriate behavior towards England players at the Women's World Cup medal ceremony. Rubiales had been banned for three years by FIFA for his abusive behavior towards the Spanish world champion Jennifer Hermoso, whom he had kissed on the mouth.

According to Hewitt,Rubiales had grabbed and caressed the face of player Laura Coombs, which the FA president found somewhat strange, according to the FIFA protocol. Then, according to Hewitt, he apparently kissed player Lucy Bronze vigorously on the face.

Rubiales defends himself against further accusations

According to the FIFA protocol, Rubiales accused Hewitt of being prejudiced against him. She had also hugged several players, although they extended their hands to receive a handshake, which, according to Hewitt's logic, could also be understood as "violent, non-consensual physical contact". Hewitt's hypocrisy was blatant, Rubiales was told.

With his behavior immediately after the World Cup final on August 20 in Sydney between Spain and England, Rubiales violated the provisions of Article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. He has announced that he intends to take legal action against his ban. Rubiales insists that the kiss with Hermoso was consensual. He is also under investigation in Spain and, according to experts, faces a prison sentence of up to four years.
