Caitlin Clark dazzles with a 29-point, double-digit rebound performance in her return to WNBA play.
On Friday, the rookie sensation showed no signs of rust in her return, helping the team dominate the Phoenix Mercury with a stellar display.
Clark spearheaded the Indiana Fever's crucial 98-89 victory over the Mercury, pushing the Fever closer to securing a spot in the playoffs.
Chalking up her 10th double-double of the season, Clark recorded a team-best 29 points, dished out 10 assists, and grabbed 5 rebounds in an impressive all-round performance.
"It was a blast. We came out with a ton of enthusiasm, it's just about figuring out how to keep that momentum going," Clark shared with the media post-game during the Fever's strong start.
Indiana outscored Phoenix 33-16 in the first quarter, with Clark scoring 13 points, and 54-37 at halftime.
Despite the Mercury's determined comeback, driven by Olympic gold medalist Kahleah Copper's game-high 32 points, the Fever managed to clinch a vital win.
Partnering up with Clark, Kelsey Mitchell contributed 28 points as the dynamic backcourt duo sealed the deal for the Fever.
"We're trying to approach these last 14 games as one game at a time, just take it one game at a time," Clark told the media post-game.
"I thought we set a strong tone in the first quarter, but for us it's all about taking it one game at a time."
Fever coach Christie Sides echoed Clark's sentiments post-game.
"I've just been emphasizing to my staff to only direct our energy towards the next play, which is the next game. We're not at a point where we can start thinking ahead, we can't focus on what others are doing. We need to concentrate on ourselves and our improvement with each game."
Jacob Lev of CNN provided additional reporting.
Clark's impressive performance on the court, with 29 points, 10 assists, and 5 rebounds, highlights her passion for the sport. After securing a vital win for the Fever, she emphasizes the importance of focusing on one game at a time to further improve and secure their spot in the playoffs.
