BVB transfer is turning into a tug-of-war
The deal seemed fixed, the contract was already prepared, but the transfer of Serhou Guirassy to Borussia Dortmund came to a halt. Everyone had to be patient, as another medical examination was planned. But not this week.
The planned transfer of Serhou Guirassy to Borussia Dortmund remains on hold for now. According to information from the German Press Agency, another medical examination of the 28-year-old striker of VfB Stuttgart is planned only in the early weeks to come. As videos from "Ruhr Nachrichten" show, Guirassy traveled back to Stuttgart from Dortmund's airport a day after his failed health check. The football Bundesligist did not provide further details about the severity of his injury during the first team training.
Since the 18 million Euro professional failed the medical check, the already prepared four-year contract was not signed yet. It is said that Guirassy sustained an injury during a national team game for Guinea in early June, which requires "further medical clarification" according to Borussia Dortmund.
The first team training of the 2024/25 season under the leadership of new trainer Nuri Şahin took place without the supposed new addition. The numerous EM participants of Borussia and the Copa America player Giovanni Reyna are set to join training at the end of July. The US national player, who last played for Nottingham Forest, is among the returning loan players, along with Tom Rothe (Holstein Kiel) and Soumalia Coulibaly (Royal Antwerp).
The first new signing for VfB Stuttgart, national player Waldemar Anton, is already a done deal. In addition to Guirassy, Pascal Groß is also expected to strengthen the squad. The negotiations with the Brighton & Hove Albion-bound midfielder, who was also part of the DFB squad at the EM like Anton, are reportedly close to completion.
The planned transfer of Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund is currently under review due to an injury discovered during a medical examination. Despite the setback, Borussia Dortmund is still interested in signing Pascal Groß from Brighton & Hove Albion.
