BVB is in a high-profile race for Beier

Last season, Maximilian Beier scored the winning goal for TSG Hoffenheim against Borussia Dortmund, but now he's switching sides: The national team player will soon be storming for the BVB, who have outbid high-caliber competition.

Borussia Dortmund, a Bundesliga football club, has signed national team striker Maximilian Beier from league rivals TSG Hoffenheim. The BVB confirmed the transfer, with Beier signing a contract until 2029, and the transfer fee for the 21-year-old is approximately 30 million euros.

"Several top European clubs were fighting for Maximilian. We're very happy that we could quickly convince him to join Borussia Dortmund," said business manager Lars Ricken. "I'm proud to now be able to play for one of the best teams in Europe," emphasized Beier: "The club's goals and mine are the same: We want to win titles. I'll give everything for that." According to information from ntv.de, Juventus Turin, FC Liverpool, and Manchester United were also interested in the Euro Championship player. However, the BVB intensified their efforts in recent weeks and ultimately secured the deal.

At the BVB, Beier is expected to replace Niclas Füllkrug, who has moved to West Ham United. "Maxi was our absolute dream player after Niclas Füllkrug's departure. Despite his young age, he's already very mature on the pitch and stands out with his speed, work rate, and goal threat," said Dortmund's sports director Sebastian Kehl: "His development is certainly not over yet, and we'll help him get even better."

Dortmund previously signed Stuttgart's goal-getter Serhou Guirassy, but he's not yet fit to play due to a knee injury. The versatile Beier can play as a lone striker or in a two-striker system, providing new coach Nuri Sahin with more options.

Beier's contract with TSG was set to expire at the end of June 2027. He had only signed it in October 2023, and according to "Kicker," it included a release clause.

Beier will now represent Borussia Dortmund, formerly known as DFB (Deutscher Fußball-Bund)'s national team, in their upcoming matches. With his signing, Dortmund has strengthened their roster, completing the transfer from DFB's league rival, TSG Hoffenheim.
