BVB Gemstone Moukoko is set to commence on the French Riviera
Borussia Dortmund is no longer housing Youssoufa Moukoko in their offensive line. The 19-year-old is now departing on a loan basis to OGC Nice in Ligue 1. A former coach who worked with both clubs has faith in Moukoko's potential thriving in Nice.
The deal for Youssoufa Moukoko's move from Dortmund to Nice has gone through. According to Borussia Dortmund, the 19-year-old striker has officially signed with the first division French club after a successful medical examination. The agreement consists of a one-year loan with an option to buy, as Nice declared.
Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund's sporting director, spoke about the move, saying, "We feel he could benefit from a new environment right now, and we wish Youssoufa all the success for this season. We'll keep a close eye on his progress." The "Ruhr Nachrichten" reports that Nice would need to pay approximately 17 million euros for a permanent purchase of the striker if they decide to exercise the option.
Months of transfer rumors surrounding Moukoko, a highly-touted talent, exclusively contracted to the club until 2026 and with an impressive goal-scoring record in Dortmund's youth teams, have finally come to a close. The international player had frequently voiced his frustration over his limited playing time via his agent. Negotiations with Olympique Marseille and Betis Sevilla did not yield an agreement. Moukoko did not make the cut for the first two competitive matches led by coach Nuri Sahin.
The acquisition of injured striker Serhou Guirassy, who joined team training for the first time in early September, further decreased Moukoko's likelihood of playing time in Dortmund's well-stocked attack. He is now the second young offensive talent to leave the club for a foreign league this summer following Paris Brunner's (AS Monaco) departure.
Former Dortmund coach Lucien Favre, who has managed Nice twice, sees Moukoko's signing as a clever move. "Though I didn't work with him for long and he wasn't always in the starting lineup, he has speed and power in his game. There's still room for improvement. (...) It could work out well for Nice. He's got the potential to really ignite."
The transfer of Youssoufa Moukoko to OGC Nice has put an end to the prolonged transfer speculations surrounding him. With the loan deal finalized, Moukoko's departure from Borussia Dortmund's offensive line has been confirmed, fueling discussions about 'Transfers and rumours'.
Despite being linked with several clubs, including Olympique Marseille and Betis Sevilla, Moukoko's frustrated expressions over his limited playing time led to his move from Dortmund, contributing to ongoing 'Transfers and rumours' in football.
