Brazilian youngster Endrick nets last-minute goal against Mexico.
This weekend, a 17-year-old scored the winning goal for Brazil against Mexico in a warm-up match for the Copa America competition, held in Kyle Field, Texas. His three goals in his last three international appearances make him a standout player.
The young man, named Endrick, put Brazil back in front with a header after Mexico had tied the match at 2-2 in the final minute. Brazil had earlier taken a 2-0 lead with goals from Pereira and Martinelli.
Endrick expressed gratitude toward God for his growing success and his ongoing opportunities to play for his nation. "We trained hard, and now we need to work even harder. Our goal is to win the Copa America," he said following the game.
In March, Endrick made history with a winning goal against England at Wembley Stadium, becoming the youngest male player to score an international goal there. He was also the youngest to score for Brazil since Ronaldo Nazario in 1994.
Endrick’s talent has long been recognized, with Real Madrid signing him to join their team in July this year for a staggering €70 million ($74.77 million) when he turns 18. He first made his mark at Palmeiras, where he played just 307 minutes as a senior player before moving on to Real Madrid.
Endrick maintains ties to Palmeiras while awaiting his move to Spain, playing for them while continuing to secure trophies and break records. He became the youngest player to make his debut and score for his club and the only player to have earned trophies at every age level.
His remarkable performances on the field landed him a spot on the Brazil national team last year, where he started in World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
Next up for Brazil is a friendly against the US on Wednesday, followed by the start of their Copa America campaign against Costa Rica on June 24th.
