The Boston Celtics, currently reigning champions, have secured the second game of the NBA Finals and are one step closer to their 18th championship title in the North American basketball league.

The team from Massachusetts defeated the Dallas Mavericks, with German player Maximilian Kleber, 105-98 during their home match. They now lead the best-of-seven series 2-0, putting immense pressure on Dallas to turn things around in their upcoming home games on Wednesday and Friday.

Despite Luka Doncic's impressive 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, which marked the first-ever triple-double in Mavericks history during a final series, they suffered their second consecutive loss. This demonstrated a clear disparity between the players' performances. Kyrie Irving underperformed with only 16 points while Kleber, despite playing for a total of 16 minutes, failed to score a single point despite four shooting opportunities at the basket.

Jrue Holiday shone for the hosts with 26 points and 11 rebounds, reflecting the team's balanced roster. Jaylen Brown scored 21 points, and Jayson Tatum contributed 18 points and 12 assists, even though his shooting accuracy was relatively low at 27%.

"They're number one in the NBA for a reason," Doncic commented on Boston's stellar performance. "They have numerous standout players, with virtually anyone capable of starting. That's what makes them the best."

Boston, well-known for their basketball dominance in the 1960s, last won a title back in 2008. The Dallas Mavericks, led by Dirk Nowitzki, celebrated their only championship victory three years later.
