Boston Celtics make it rain money again

Jayson Tatum leads the Boston Celtics to their 18th NBA title in franchise history. Now, the record champion wants to ensure that the superstar, who has been playing for the team since 2017, remains a part of a bright future. Tatum is expected to sign a record-breaking contract soon.

According to media reports, Basketball star Jayson Tatum is on the verge of signing the richest contract in NBA history with the Boston Celtics. The 26-year-old and the Celtics are reportedly close to agreeing on a five-year contract worth $314 million. The deal is said to only require final details, reported "The Athletic" and ESPN on Monday (ET). The contract can be signed as early as July 6.

Tatum would replace Jaylen Brown as record holder with this deal. Brown and the Celtics agreed on a five-year contract worth $303 million last year. Both Tatum and Brown had a significant impact on the Celtics' 18th NBA title, which they won against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

Tatum is one of the best players in the league and, like Brown, is largely responsible for the Celtics making it to the Eastern Conference Finals five times in the past seven years since his NBA debut and being the most consistent team in the league during this period. The forward primarily plays for the team and has almost no weaknesses, providing great value to the Celtics both as a scorer and as a passer.

Tatum was drafted third overall by the Celtics in the 2017 Draft and has been playing for them since then. To date, he has earned five All-Star nominations and has been selected for the All-NBA Team four times. With Team USA, he won Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021 and will be part of the superteam around LeBron James at the Paris Games (July 26-August 8).

Tatum's new contract, set to make him the highest-paid NBA player, will likely secure his future in Boston, continuing his successful basketball career with the Celtics. His exceptional performance in basketball, both on and off the court, has positioned him as a vital asset to the Celtics, making him a key player in the NBA's basketball community.
