EM 2024 - "Bir, iki, üc - Türkiye": Frenetic cheers after Turkey's win against the Czech Republic

50,000 spectators created a festive atmosphere before the Group Stage match of the UEFA European Football Championship between Turkey and Czechia in the evening sun of Hamburg. The Turkish fans, as in the previous games, were particularly vocal.

Record Number of Cards in Turkey vs Czechia

Referee Istvan Kovacs had a lot to do during Turkey's 2:1 win against Czechia. He showed yellow cards 18 times and red cards twice – a record for the most cards distributed in a single game at a UEFA European Football Championship. "It was a close, rough, and physical game," commented trainer Vincenzo Montella on the success of his Turkish national team. "We can't change it now," he added.

The fans of the winning team seemed unfazed by the card deluge. For them, the win and advancement to the Quarterfinals of the tournament was all that mattered. Their chant of "Bir, iki, üç – Türkiye" (roughly translates to "One, two, three – Turkey" in German) echoed through the streets. We have compiled impressions from the celebrations in Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey for you in the image gallery above.

Despite the record-breaking number of cards in the Turkey vs Czechia match during the European Football Championship in Hamburg, Turkish fans continued to celebrate their team's 2:1 victory and progression to the Quarterfinals. Their joy was evident as they sang "Bir, iki, üç – Türkiye" in the streets of Hamburg, Bordeaux, Amsterdam, and Istanbul.
