In honor of her album "Merry Christmas," Mariah Carey (55) announced a Christmas tour on Friday (2nd August). The "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the wintery earworm and other songs from the album. She kicked off the festive season in the height of summer with this news and a photo in a Christmas setting on social media.

20 concerts planned

"Even though it's not time yet, I have exciting news," she began her message. With a total of 20 concerts, the "Mariah Carey Christmas Time" tour is her "biggest Christmas tour yet." From November 6th to December 17th, she will bring her American fans into the Christmas spirit. No European dates were announced. Ticket sales for the shows start on Friday, August 9th, as she announced.

In the announcement photo, the musician stands surrounded by Christmas trees in a sparkling, long red and silver-trimmed evening gown in front of a decorated fireplace. Behind the festively dressed singer lie dozens of gifts.

30 years of "Merry Christmas"

At the time of the tour's start, her famous album "Merry Christmas" will have already celebrated its 30th anniversary. The album, which includes interpretations of songs like "Silent Night, Holy Night" alongside her biggest hit, was released on October 28, 1994. On the iconic cover, Carey poses sitting in a snow-covered Santa suit.

Currently, Carey is celebrating another one of her albums. From April 2024 to February 2025, she will perform the "The Celebration of Mimi" concert series in three phases at the Dolby Live Amphitheater in Las Vegas. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of her album "The Emancipation of Mimi" next year, fans can't yet know when they will be able to see her live again in Germany. Her last performance there was in June 2019.

"Mariah Carey's 'Mariah Carey Christmas Time' tour, her biggest Christmas tour yet with 20 concerts, is set to start just as her album 'Merry Christmas' turns 30 years old. Fans can look forward to the festive shows from November 6th to December 17th."

"The tour's commencement will coincide with the 30th anniversary of 'Merry Christmas,' an album that propelled Carey's contribution to Christmas music with classics like 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' and 'Silent Night, Holy Night'."
