World Cup in Östersund - Biathlete Preuß is looking forward to her own bed and sunshine
Overall World Cup leader Franziska Preuß is looking forward to two things in particular after her strong start to the biathlon season. "To my own bed and to soak up some sun," the 29-year-old told the German Press Agency.
The Bavarian spent almost exactly a month at a training camp in Norway and then at the World Cup in Östersund, Sweden, before heading to her adopted home of Ruhpolding via Stockholm and Munich on Monday. "It's really been a long time. I'm really looking forward to seeing my family," said the 2015 relay world champion.
With two second places and a fourth place, Preuß secured the yellow jersey for the first time in her career and will also wear it at the upcoming World Cup in Hochfilzen, Austria, starting on Friday. "It's really cool that I can wear the jersey there, because there will certainly be a lot of German fans there," said Preuß. The town in the Pillerseetal valley is not far from the German border.
However, Preuß will not be celebrating her latest successes in a big way. "For now, the focus is on recovery and health," said Preuß: "I've already looked at the weather forecast and I'm looking forward to sunshine." Due to the time of year, there have only been a few hours of daylight in Scandinavia in recent weeks.
