Fashion - Berlin Fashion Week started
The Berlin Fashion Week has started its new round with the first shows. Ukrainian designer Mitya Hontarenko presented on Monday with his Streetwear brand PLNGNS recycled clothing - for example, jackets or tops from patterns of old sneakers. The label reportedly disassembles, for example, worn-out sneakers and creates new things from them.
A former Ukrainian soldier, who was injured in the Russian offensive war, walked the runway with a leg prosthesis. At the end, he showed a banner with the inscription "Russia is a terrorist state" ("Russland ist ein terroristischer Staat").
Several designers and designers will still show their designs during Fashion Week until Thursday, including established fashion designers like Kilian Kerner and up-and-coming talents. On the guest list are, among others, the American actress Kelly Rutherford ("Gossip Girl") and her British colleague Jessica Madsen ("Bridgerton"). They are expected at the runway show of Marc Cain in Potsdam on Tuesday evening. The Fashion Week in Berlin takes place twice a year, the last time in February 2024.
