Culture on the outskirts - Bergson Cultural Center: 50,000 visitors since opening

The new Bergson Cultural Center on the outskirts of Munich has had over 50,000 visitors since its opening in April, according to a spokesperson. "We're really happy about that", she said. However, it's not even fully opened yet. While there have already been concerts and an exhibition, the main element, the modern concert hall, is not expected to open until October. This Friday, the 2000 square meter gallery spaces in the new building will be made accessible to the public.

In total, there are three exhibition spaces, which are supposed to be among the largest commercial gallery spaces for contemporary art in Germany, as stated in a press release.

The privately financed cultural center in a former heating power plant with a restaurant and beer garden, located in the Aubing district in the west of Munich, aims to be a cultural center for everyone. It has also thought out a rather democratic pricing model for its future concert program: all places cost the same. Those who can afford it pay 39 Euros, while those who cannot pay only 24 Euros. No proof is required for this, according to the statement: "We give a trust deposit."

The cultural center was launched at the end of April. When all areas are open, it is expected to cover 20,000 square meters. "Spotlight on: Munich's new place-to-be for art, culture, culinary and events", advertises Bergson.
