The championship match for German basketball concluded with FC Bayern's first win. Munich's team managed to edge out Alba Berlin in a nail-biting contest, scoring 79:67 (46:43) and taking an early lead in the best-of-five series with a 1:0 score. Captain Vladimir Lucic was FC Bayern's highest scorer with 17 points, while Andreas Obst chipped in with 15 points and five successful three-pointers.

Despite their injury woes, the determined Berlin team gave it their all to avoid defeat. But, their stamina eventually faded in the fourth quarter, with only five points scored by the hosts. Sterling Brown led the charge for Berlin with 15 points.

The second game of the final series between these two titans will be hosted in Munich on Monday (8:30 PM). The first team to win three games will be crowned champion.

Following their impressive semi-final victory against Würzburg, Bayern were perceived as favorites in the match. Their opponents, led by coach Israel Gonzalez, were not deterred by this, and neither were they affected by Bayern's three-day rest advantage.

Unfortunately, Alba faced a setback before the game - their captain Johannes Thiemann had to sit out due to a patellar tendon injury. Additionally, all of their nominated guards were injured, making their situation even more difficult.

Despite the challenges, Berlin displayed incredible spirit and never allowed Bayern to run away with it. They made powerful shots both inside and outside the three-point line, and their defense was impressive too. At halftime, Berlin's co-coach Thomas Pach said on Dyn, "The game is going exactly as we like."

Meanwhile, Munich’s professional Carsen Edwards had a different perspective: "We need more defensive stops, it's a back-and-forth battle. We're not going to win." This did not have the desired effect initially, as Alba even managed to take the lead in the third quarter. It took a series of well-timed three-pointers from Obst and a burst of energy from Bayern to help them regain the lead, aided by the cheers of their crowds. An elated Obst clenched his fists and flexed his muscles in celebration.

However, as the Berliners' energy levels dipped in the final stages of the fourth quarter, Bayern took full advantage and sealed their victory effortlessly.
