Barbra Streisand to Share New Song for Television Program 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz'

The renowned recipient of SAG's life achievement award recently recorded a song titled "Love Will Survive" for an upcoming Peacock series, set for release next month. Peacock announced this news on Wednesday.

In a statement, Streisand expressed her desire to sing "Love Will Survive" in the context of the series because of the increase in antisemitism globally. She wanted people to remember the 6 million souls who perished less than 80 years ago, while also showcasing the triumph of love even in the darkest of times. Hans Zimmer, an Oscar winner, collaborated with Kara Talve and Walter Afanasieff to compose the song. The lyrics were penned by Charlie Midnight, making it Streisand's very first recording for a TV series. She's joined on the recording by the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of William Ross.

The series, "The Tattooist of Auschwitz," is an adaptation of Heather Morris' novel and stars Harvey Keitel, Melanie Lynskey, Jonah Hauer-King, Anna Próchniak and Jonas Nay. The story revolves around a Slovakian Jewish man who becomes a tattooist at the concentration camp and develops a romantic involvement with a fellow internee. It chronicles their struggle to stay alive amidst the horrific conditions.

Streisand, who last released a studio album of new music in 2018, will release "Love Will Survive" on April 25 via Columbia Records. "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" will premiere on Peacock on May 2.
