Audi crowns its Q8 series twice over

Instead of one RS model, Audi offers two versions of the Q8 in the future. An additional 40 PS costs around 14,000 Euro - making this variant the strongest series-produced gasoline model in the company's history. It sets a new lap record right away.

Audi refines its Q8 series, and not just once: In addition to the RS model, which has been polished as part of a facelift, there is now a Performance variant with 40 extra PS and a Nordschleife record. The prices for the sportily optimized SUV Coupe start at €142,000, and the new top variant costs from €155,700.

The drivetrain of the all-wheel-drive vehicles is taken over by the familiar 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 with mild-hybrid technology and at least 441 kW/600 PS. In the Performance model, 471 kW/640 PS are available, making it the strongest series-produced gasoline model in the company's history.

New Nürburgring record for SUV class

To underscore this, the Ingolstadt-based company sent its SUV flagship to the Nürburgring, where it set a new record for the SUV class (7:36.698 minutes). In standard sprinting, the Performance model reaches 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard RS. Both versions have a top speed of 250 km/h, which can be increased to 280 km/h on request.

Externally, the RS models take on the soft facelift changes of the civilian Q8, which mainly affect the grille and lighting. Inside, there are new decorations and embroidery, as well as higher-resolution screens. The technical equipment includes an adaptive air suspension with RS-specific tuning, all-wheel steering, and Matrix-LED lighting. Against extra charge, there are options such as active roll stabilization, a sport differential, and a ceramic brake system (standard on the Performance model). Laser light is also available as an addition for the headlights on the options list.

The RS versions round out the powertrain program for the Q8's Coupe brother. Already since the previous fall, two six-cylinder diesels, a six-cylinder gasoline engine, and the slightly less sharp-tuned Broadside model SQ8 with eight cylinders and 373 kW/507 PS have been orderable. The price range is from €86,700 to €119,500.

The Audi Q8 lineup expands beyond the RS model, introducing an Performance variant with enhanced power and a new Nürburgring record. This SUV Coupe now offers two potent gasoline options, with the Performance model boasting a strong 471 kW/640 PS.

For those seeking an even more capable SUV, Audi's lineup includes various Audi models with impeccable off-road capabilities, such as the superior Audi Q7 or the spacious Q8 SUV, both of which are popular choices with drivers who love an SUV with a touch of luxury and performance.

The SUV coupé now has up to 640 hp.
