At age 98, Dick Van Dyke broke records as he won a Daytime Emmy on June 7. He was awarded for his role as Timothy Robicheaux in the soap opera "Days of Our Lives." During his acceptance speech, he expressed his amazement, saying, "I'm the oldest nominee in history - I can't believe it!" He even joked that if he had known he would live this long, he'd have taken better care of himself.

"A Special Honor for an 80-Year Career"

This achievement is not the only one for the "Mary Poppins" star. Van Dyke, known for his sitcom "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966), the series "Diagnosis: Murder" (1993-2001), and the film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968), made four appearances on "Days of Our Lives" last year. The award ceremony saw him and his wife, makeup artist Arlene Silver, gracing the stage. The couple has been married since 2012.

"I can't believe it. I feel like a late-night TV spy," Van Dyke humorously said. He thanked the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the organizing body for the television awards, for their hospitality: "You're a real family, and you've welcomed and treated me so kindly." Van Dyke added, "Thank you very much! This is truly the crown of an 80-year career."

Emmys, Grammys, but Missing an Oscar

Van Dyke has several other awards to his name, including four Primetime Emmys. He is also among those talented artists who could join the EGOT winners club, which consists of stars with Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony wins. However, he's still waiting for his Oscar nod.
