Athletics-DM - Ansah first German sprinter under 10 seconds
Owen Ansah was the first German sprinter to break the 10-second barrier over 100 meters. The 23-year-old athlete from Hamburger SV broke the eight-year-old German record mark of Julian Reus from Wattenscheid by two hundredths of a second at the national championships in Braunschweig in a time of 9.99 seconds. He is certainly going to be there at the Olympics.
Ansah beat favorite Joshua Hartmann from ASV Köln into second place. Hartmann ran a personal best of 10.06 seconds. Third place went to Munich's Yannik Wolf in a time of 10.16 seconds.
Owen Ansah's impressive performance in Braunschweig qualified him for the Athletics events at the upcoming Olympics in Olympia, hailing from Lower Saxony, Germany. His club, Hamburger SV, should be proud of their homegrown talent breaking records and representing the nation. Despite the strong competition from athletes like Joshua Hartmann from ASV Köln, Ansah managed to secure his spot in the DM finals with his groundbreaking 9.99-second run, surpassing the previous German record holder, Julian Reus from Wattenscheid.
