Alba Berlin pushes for a decisive showdown.

Alba Berlin's basketball team somehow managed to reverse their seemingly inevitable loss in the German championship finals and compelled a fifth match. This results in a tie situation at 2-2, with the last encounter happening this Thursday in Berlin.

Bayern Munich, last season's Basketball Cup champions, have to continue to hold out for their rival in the Bundesliga finals. Alba Berlin remarkably held on against the first set of points from the home team, Chemnitz Nine, in the fourth playoff semi-final match. They displayed an incredible boost in spirits by winning their second game with a standout performance of 96:85 (43:51). The last match, the fifth and decisive game, will be held on Thursday (6:30 pm) in Berlin.

The final series will commence on Saturday at the home court of current leaders Bayern. Since Bayern had already qualified for the finals after winning 3:0 against Würzburg Baskets in the initial semi-final series, Ratiopharm Ulm had succumbed to Würzburg in the first playoff round.

The Alba Berlin squad was engulfed in immense optimism post the tie in the series due to their upcoming face-off: "We've always believed in ourselves and now believe even more in making it to the finals because we have home advantage again," commented Martin Hermannsson from Iceland, leaving a positive impression in front of the cameras. Sterling Brown and Hermannsson were Berlin's stand-out performers with 25 points and 19 points respectively. Chemnitz's best scorers were Deandre Lansdowne with 19 points and Aher Uguak with 15.

Following a 48-hour break, game three took place at the same site, with Chemnitz Nine initially taking the lead. However, Alba Berlin managed to gather themselves and match up to their competition.

Throughout the ensuing back-and-forth, the lead changed four times. Nonetheless, the Nine, without their center Kevin Yebo who was suspended due to a foul in the third quarter, reclaimed the lead and built up to a lead of twelve points. With their backs to the wall, the visitors put forth a ferocious comeback and reclaimed the lead over the flabbergasted hosts, resulting in a crucial fifth and deciding game in their own hall.
