German Basketball League - Alba Berlin advances to the finals of the German basketball championship.

The basketball team from Berlin, Alba, made it to the finals of the national championship in the Bundesliga. They won the crucial game at their home arena against Chemnitz with a score of 97:84 (48:53), and this enabled the Berliners to tie the best-of-five series. With this victory, they managed to claw their way back from being 1:2 down at one point in the series.

The first match in the finals will take place at the weekend, and they will be facing off against Bayern Munich. The top performers for Berlin were Matt Thomas, who scored 24 points, and Malte Delow with a total of 17. Their coach, Israel Gonzalez, was missing injured point guard Martin Hermannsson, so their team was left without a true playmaker.

The game started at a fast pace, with Johannes Thiemann, a world champion and a Berlin native, participating. Present among the spectators were the NBA professionals Moritz and Franz Wagner from Berlin.

Alba Berlin showed some initial dominance and had a 27:21 lead in the first quarter. However, missed shots and dropped passes allowed the Niners to make a comeback. Chemnitz used a 15:0 run to go 10 points ahead (42:53) during the second quarter. Berlin managed to bridge the gap before halftime, and things continued to be close after the break.

It was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading the lead. With just over three minutes to play, Alba managed to pull away and establish an 88:80 advantage. They held on to this lead until the final whistle.
