After Paris exit: Zverev registers for tournament in Sofia

Following his round of 16 exit at the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy, Alexander Zverev intends to play at the ATP tournament in Sofia next week, the organizers have announced.

By registering for the tournament in the Bulgarian capital at short notice, Zverev (26) wants to keep his chances of taking part in the ATP Finals in Turin on November 12th.

The Olympic tennis champion is currently in seventh place in the annual rankings. The eight best players of the season qualify for the event in Turin. In Holger Rune from Denmark, coached by Boris Becker, Hubert Hurkacz from Poland and Alex de Minaur from Australia, there are still three players who could overtake Zverev. The trio are still in action this Friday in the quarter-finals in Paris-Bercy.

Alexander Zverev will compete in the ATP tennis tournament in Sofia after his early exit in Paris, aiming to maintain his position in the top 8 and secure a spot at the ATP Finals. His participation in the Bulgarian event could potentially be crucial, given that players like Hubert Hurkacz and Alex de Minaur, who are still in Paris's quarter-finals, are vying for spots above him in the annual rankings.
