- After cancellation due to terrorist threat in Vienna, Taylor Swift continues tour in London
Following concert cancellations in Austria due to terror threats, US musician Taylor Swift is set to resume her tour in London. Five concerts are scheduled at Wembley Stadium. The 34-year-old is expected to take the stage tonight for the first time since the cancellations, having already performed several concerts in June.
Last week, three of Swift's shows in Vienna were cancelled after Austrian authorities suspected Islamists of planning a terror attack. The 19-year-old main suspect has since denied the allegations, and two other young men remain in custody.
London Mayor Highlights Police Experience
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has emphasized that the police have experience in handling such large events ahead of Swift's upcoming concerts in the British capital. He stated that they are working closely with investigators and expressed excitement about welcoming Taylor Swift back. According to the police, there are no indications that the Austrian investigations will affect upcoming events in London. Swift is scheduled to perform five concerts in the coming days.
The concert tonight is set to begin with the stadium doors opening in the afternoon, with the show and opening acts starting around 6 PM (CET). The main concert is scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM (CET), according to ticket platforms.
Last week, Austrian police uncovered plans for a suspected Islamist attack just before a concert in Vienna, leading to the cancellation of three shows. Swift has not yet commented on the threat situation.
Meanwhile, five individuals have been identified by the Austrian domestic intelligence agency as being part of the circle of observed threats. These individuals were supposed to be deployed in the facility and catering areas at the concerts, according to Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner.
