Adeyemi's extended absence from BVB surpasses initial expectations
Karim Adeyemi, the 22-year-old forward for Borussia Dortmund, is expected to be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscle fiber tear in his thigh. This unfortunate incident occurred during their dominant 7-1 win against Celtic Glasgow in the Champions League. Despite scoring three goals in the first half, Adeyemi had to be substituted due to injury shortly after the break. According to reports, he might miss between three to four weeks of action.
Following the game against Celtic, Adeyemi remained optimistic, expressing hope that the injury wasn't as severe as he feared. "It didn't feel as bad as usual. I hope to be back soon," he said. This situation isn't new for Adeyemi, as he has previously suffered similar injuries during his career, which led to missed games.
On a positive note, national coach Julian Nagelsmann has shown confidence in Adeyemi's potential return to the German national team. Despite the injury, Nagelsmann views Adeyemi as a promising prospect for the future. "He's injured, but he's in great form. I see him as a potential candidate for us," Nagelsmann stated in a DFB interview, discussing the selection of his 23-man squad for the Nations League matches on October 11 against Bosnia-Herzegovina and three days later against the Netherlands.
Unfortunately, Adeyemi's Borussia Dortmund teammate, Maximilian Beier, won't be joining him in the national team for now. Nagelsmann has chosen not to nominate the attacker again as he's yet to secure a regular role at Dortmund since joining from TSG Hoffenheim in the summer. Beier has primarily been playing in reserve matches, which Nagelsmann believes would not provide substantial playing time in the upcoming international matches.
"Maxi hasn't found his rhythm yet at Dortmund, so we decided that just playing 20 minutes for us wouldn't be beneficial for him," Nagelsmann explained. Instead, Nagelsmann plans to give Beier ample game time in the U21's crucial qualifiers, which could help him regain form and contribute positively to the team.
Borussia Dortmund will need to manage without Adeyemi for a few weeks as he recovers from his injury, as confirmed by the team doctor. Borussia Dortmund and Adeyemi's absence could impact their upcoming fixtures, particularly since he was in excellent form before being sidelined.
