Sat.1's Weekend Program Expands

Sat.1 has revealed plans to prolong their Sunday Morning Show by an hour, as declared on Tuesday. Starting September 8th, the beloved morning format will be live from Berlin every Sunday, extending its broadcast from 9:00 to 12:00, an additional hour compared to its previous duration. Hosts such as Marlene Lufen, Karen Heinrichs, Alina Merkau, Daniel Boschmann, Matthias Killing, Christian Wackert, Benjamin Bieneck, and Simone Panteleit will rotate their duties.

Sat.1's director, Marc Rasmus, lauded the outstanding performance of this talented team, who not only succeed on Sundays but also excel weekdays. Last Sunday, the show reached an unprecedented 10% market share within Sat.1's targeted demographic, prompting Rasmus' praise.

Unfortunately, the Sunday edition does not match the triumphs of the weekday broadcasts. The morning show, airing live from Monday to Friday, 5:30 to 10:00, witnesses an average viewership of 590,000 and a 15% market share among the general public.

Timeless Faces and Long-Standing Tradition

For more than three decades, Sat.1's morning show has greeted and informed viewers every day. Throughout its history, popular personalities such as former talk show host Britt Hagedorn, 'I'm a Celebrity...' victor Peer Kusmagk, and 'ZDF Fernsehgarten' icon Andrea Kiewel, as well as current ProSieben all-rounder Matthias Opdenhövel and renowned football presenter and 'heute show' star Oliver Welke, have graced the format.

For many years, dearly missed Jan Hahn was a key member of the "Sat.1-Frühstücksfernsehen" team. From 2005 to 2016, he hosted the show before transitioning to rival networks. Beginning in 2017, he presented "Guten Morgen Deutschland" on RTL. Sadly, Hahn passed away on May 4, 2021, at the age of 47, after a valiant fight against cancer. He was leaves behind three children, with his youngest daughter born in 2019.

Despite the success of Sat.1's weekday morning show, garnering an average viewership of 590,000 and a 15% market share, the Sunday edition fails to match these figures. The expanded Saturday.1's Weekend Program, with the Saturday Morning Show running from 9:00 to 12:00 starting September 8th, aims to bridge this gap.
