Recent statistics from the CDC show that women are having children at older ages. Simultaneously, the birth rate has been decreasing in most states across the U.S. One reason for the decrease is the increasing age of first-time mothers.

The CDC reported in 2023 that the birth rate among women in their late 30s and early 40s increased in the last decade. Additionally, the number of women aged 45 and above giving birth reached one birth per 1,000 in population—for the first time in over a decade—in the same year.
