Actress Katy Karrenbauer, recognized for her role in the show "Hinter Gittern - the Women's Prison," is currently hospitalized, going through surgery. She informed her Instagram followers about this on Saturday, disclosing that the procedure was a result of a mild stroke.
In the days leading up to it, Karrenbauer told her fans about her hospital stays without mentioning the reason. In her most recent video update, she shared the news and discussed her recent experiences.
Initial Denial of Stroke Symptoms
Rocking a large bandage on her neck and looking weary, she says in the video: "My operation has been going on for 48 hours. I was at the intensive care unit until yesterday. Last week, on Tuesday, I couldn't move my hand and arm. The first thought that immediately crossed my mind: Could this have been a stroke?"
At first, she dismissed this thought. Later, joined by her father at the hospital, she inquired about the symptoms. Doctors suggested a more in-depth examination and she reluctantly decided to see a vein specialist and ultimately go to the hospital.
High Recovery Prospects
Medical tests later found she had an ischemic stroke and required immediate surgery. During her interview with "Bild" newspaper, she disclosed more details: "I resisted initially, but eventually went to the emergency room." The actress is upbeat about her recovery chances, sharing, "The surgeons have told me that there's an excellent probability of a full recovery."
However, Karrenbauer will have to undergo an additional operation on the other side of her neck, which will leave her with a long scar. Regardless, her medical team is optimistic. Only time will tell if her recovery holds true.
