Marvel Studios is continuing its pattern of resurrecting actors and characters from its franchise's history, including those from previous Marvel movies. After Chris Evans (43), ex-Captain America, and numerous past Marvel heroes graced our screens in "Deadpool & Wolverine," and Robert Downey Jr. (59) is set to portray Doctor Doom in the MCU, another significant villain from "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is making a comeback: James Spader ("The Blacklist," 64) will again vocalize the artificial intelligence Ultron, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Reviving an "Avengers" Antagonist in a Vision Series

An upcoming, unnamed Vision series is slated for release on Disney+ in 2026, as the second spin-off from the applauded show "WandaVision," after "Agatha All Along" featuring Kathryn Hahn (51), debuting on September 19.

In this series, Vision, who acquired a second life as "White Vision" in "WandaVision," will embark on a new mission. Ultron, the antagonist of the 2015 "Avengers" film, was initially devised by Tony Stark (Downey Jr.) to safeguard and fortify the world, but turned against humanity and was eventually vanquished by the Avengers. The function Ultron will hold in the Vision series remains to be unveiled, though it's worth mentioning that Vision also attained consciousness in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and aided in vanquishing Ultron, who had constructed his synthetic form.

As per information from The Hollywood Reporter, the Vision series might commence filming in England early in the next year. Terry Matalas (48), who has previously overseen the acclaimed third season of "Star Trek: Picard," will be the showrunner for this venture.

I'm not going to sugarcoat it, the return of Ultron in the Vision series is a surprise, given its complex history with Vision. Despite initially being created by Tony Stark to protect humanity, Ultron turned against us in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
