Michael B. Jordan on Potential "I Am Legend 2" Sequel - Actor excited for collaboration with Will Smith.
Two years have passed since the announcement of "I Am Legend 2", a sequel to the 2007 apocalyptic film starring Will Smith. Since then, the sequel has been in a preliminary stage, but there haven't been any updates about its progress until recently. "Creed" actor Michael B. Jordan, who will be teaming up with Smith in the sequel, shared some news in an interview with "People" that should lift the spirits of fans. He confirmed that the film is still "in the works."
Although there isn't any release date or specific details yet, Jordan mentioned that they are still working on the script to ensure it's up to par. He's also excited about the prospect of working alongside his long-admired actor Will Smith: "Having someone I've looked up to for a while, I'm really looking forward to collaborating with Will."

"I Am Legend" tells the story of a catastrophic virus outbreak that transforms most people into bloodthirsty monsters. Will Smith portrays the virologist Robert Neville in the film, which is adapted from Richard Matheson's 1954 novel. Strangely enough, Neville remains immune to the virus and assumes he's the sole survivor on Earth.
But how can there be a follow-up if Neville's character died at the end of the first movie? Weren't his final moments heroic? It's been reported that, in the theatrical release, Neville did indeed die. However, in the home video version, a different ending was featured where the character - similar to the novel - survives. According to the American site "Entertainment Tonight", Smith recently revealed that they will use this alternate ending as the foundation for the sequel.
Whether Michael B. Jordan's wish of working with Will Smith will become a reality depends on the reception of another film. On June 5th, Smith's fourth "Bad Boys" installment was released in theaters - it's his first production since the slap scandal at the Oscars. If Smith is still a box office liability two years later, it might hinder his future projects.
