Abus Magomedov satisfies all expectations in his UFC match.
In a desperate bid for a win, Düsseldorf fighter Magomedov takes on Brazilian Alves in the UFC. Having lost his last two matches, the pressure is on. But the wrestling specialist doesn't disappoint, delivering a convincing victory in Las Vegas.
Abu Magomedov, a Middleweight MMA contender from Düsseldorf, triumphs over Brazilian Warlley Alves in a close fight in Las Vegas. The German fighter put on a spectacular show, dominating his opponent with his wrestling skills.
Magomedov had planned a reset following his defeats against former champion Sean Strickland and fellow Brazilian Caio Borralho. A nose operation was meant to improve his breathing, while a nutrition coach would better manage his diet. These changes were set to pay off.
The 33-year-old from Düsseldorf began the match with a flurry of powerful jabs, dynamic front kicks, and three takedowns in the first round. He took complete control on the ground, using his former Bundesliga wrestling background to rule over Alves.
Alves opened the second round with a wild swing that missed the mark. Seizing this opportunity, Magomedov quickly wrestled him to the ground. The next five minutes saw the Düsseldorf fighter's complete domination, landing a barrage of punches and elbows on Alves. An elbow strike finally managed to inflict a nasty wound on Alves.
In the third round, Magomedov repeated the scenario: a swift takedown left Alves struggling on the ground. The German contender continued to hound his opponent, attempting several takedowns. Although Alves managed to fend them off, he failed to make any significant impact of his own. In the end, the three judges unanimously ruled in Magomedov's favor with a score of 30-26, 30-26, 30-26.
This victory extends Magomedov's record to 26 wins, giving him more opportunities to shine in the UFC. After four fights, he now boasts two wins and two defeats in the elite promotion.
