- A tribute to their tenth number one album

On July 19, 2024, the 1968-founded rock band Deep Purple released their 23rd studio album, "=1". With this new work, the band achieved their 10th number one album in their career and their 4th consecutive one, topping the German album charts. For this record-breaking success, they were awarded the "Number 1 Award" by the Official German Charts.

In an Instagram post by the official chart compilers, the proud musicians are seen holding the award with their new guitarist Simon McBride (45), who replaced long-time Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse (70) in 2022. Morse left the band for personal reasons to support his wife who was battling cancer.

Deep Purple first reached number one on the German charts in 1970 with the album "In Rock", a feat they repeated three more times in the 70s. They had another number one album in the 80s, with all subsequent ones coming after the turn of the millennium.

The band members of Deep Purple expressed their gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram post, thanking their fans for their continuous support, leading to their Honorary placement on the music industry's esteemed charts. In recognition of their 4th consecutive number one album, they were bestowed with the prestigious "Number 1 Award" for their exceptional achievements.
