EM 2024 - A surprise and Sané: Nagelsmann sends this team into the race against Spain
The German football national team starts the EM quarter-final against Spain with Leroy Sané and surprisingly also with Emre Can in the starting line-up. National trainer Julian Nagelsmann uses Dortmund's Can instead of Robert Andrich from Leverkusen in the defensive midfield for this knockout game on Friday in Stuttgart. Sané receives the preference in offense again over young star Florian Wirtz, who sits on the bench once more.
Leroy Sané and David Raum back in the team
Jonathan Tah returns to the defense center after his yellow card suspension. David Raum starts again as left defender and is supposed to stop the 16-year-old Spanish youngster Lamine Yamal. The German team is led again by captain Ilkay Gündogan. For the 34-year-old Toni Kroos, it would be his last football game of his career if Germany gets eliminated. The Spanish team starts with their proven top eleven without Leipzig's Dani Olmo.
Emre Can's inclusion in the German team came as a surprise, with Julian Nagelsmann opting for him over Robert Andrich from Leverkusen for the defensive midfield. Leroy Sané and Emre Can lined up alongside each other in the starting line-up for the EM quarter-final against Spain. Despite his impressive form, Florian Wirtz had to settle for a spot on the bench once again, as Julian Nagelsmann favored Leroy Sané in attack. David Raum, who has been in excellent form, started as the left defender, tasked with containing Spain's young talent, Lamine Yamal.
