A resounding farewell from Mbappé above all else.
The French Cup final was disrupted by major issues prior to the match, leading to a statement from President Macron. PSG's star player, Kylian Mbappé, bid farewell by winning a second title this season with his team.
PSG claimed the double in France. In Mbappé's final game for the French champion, PSG defeated Olympique Lyon 2-1 (2-0) thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembélé and Fabián Ruiz. The match, classified as a high-security game due to intense rivalry between the fan groups of both teams, was already marred by fights between rival supporters on their way to the stadium. Dembélé scored in the 22nd minute, while Ruiz doubled the lead before half-time.
Despite Lyon's goal from Jake O'Brien in the 55th minute, it was not enough to clinch an equalizer. PSG took home their 15th Coupe de France victory, their first since 2021.
Unfortunately, the intense competition between the supporter groups led to chaos. In French media reports, fans were seen throwing fireworks at rival buses. Published videos showed large smoke clouds reaching into the sky from Lille's Stade Pierre-Mauroy. A bus was set on fire and completely destroyed while four others were damaged. Approximately 100 people were involved, with eight police officers and 20 fans incurring minor injuries, according to an initial assessment. Reports also suggested police officers were attacked. French President Emmanuel Macron firmly denounced these incidents.
