For 820,000 Dollars? - A 'Indiana Jones'-style hat will be auctioned off

Harrison Ford's (82) famous leather hat from the film "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" (1984) could reportedly fetch up to 820,000 US-Dollars at auction. The iconic, brown hat is one of 1,900 props and television items offered for sale at "Propstore's" massive auction from August 15-18 in Los Angeles.

Famous Memorabilia for Sale

The hat was worn by Ford in the role of archaeologist Indiana Jones and by stuntman Dean Ferrandini (1945-2023). The estimated selling price, according to the auction house, is between 250,000 and 500,000 US-Dollars, with media speculation suggesting an even higher bid of up to 820,000 US-Dollars. A biker helmet from "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" (1983) could fetch up to 500,000 US-Dollars. The Biker Scouts or Scout Trooper made their debut in this part of the "Star Wars" series.

A motorized batwing model from "Batman" (1989) could also find a new owner for this price. The model used by Michael Keaton (72) is approximately 1.83 meters tall and the only one made in this size. The film producers used it for close-up shots of the wings. Another item up for auction is a copy of the pink dress Rose (Kate Winslet, 48) wore in "Titanic" (1997) when she prepared to save Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio, 49). According to "Propstore," the clothing piece is expected to sell for a value of up to 250,000 US-Dollars.

Gladiator, Saturday Night Fever, Forrest Gump

The costume from "Gladiator" (2000) worn by Joaquin Phoenix (49) as Roman Emperor Commodus in his final fight is also for sale, with an estimated value of up to 160,000 US-Dollars. An authentic leather jacket from "Saturday Night Fever" (1977) is predicted to bring in up to 80,000 US-Dollars. Cheaper is the chocolate box from "Forrest Gump" (1994): For the prop, a selling price of up to 40,000 US-Dollars is forecasted.

  1. Interestingly, the auction also includes Harrison Ford's iconic brown leather hat from his role as Han Solo in 'Star Wars', which could potentially fetch a similar high price as the 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' hat, given its cult following.
  2. The auction in Los Angeles features over 1,900 items from various films, including the original script of 'Indiana Jones', which could be a fascinating find for any dedicated fan, available for auction in US Dollars.
  3. On the less expensive side, a prop from 'Forrest Gump', such as the famous chocolate box, is also up for grabs at the auction, with bids starting at a reasonable 40,000 US Dollars.
  4. The 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' hat auction sparked additional interest in other Hollywood memorabilia sales, with 'Titanic's' pink dress and 'Saturday Night Fever's' leather jacket also attracted to the 820,000 US Dollar bidding range, demonstrating the enduring love for classic films and pop culture.
  5. This auction event also serves as a unique opportunity for television enthusiasts, with props from popular series like 'Indiana Jones' being available for purchase in USD, adding another layer of excitement to the four-day sale in Los Angeles.
